Wrap Up for Summer 2010

School started on Wednesday. It is a new chapter in my life, I tell ya! I am a senior this year. Finally. We are the ones... (Get it? Our year is 2011. Double one. Boom. Roasted.) But before I begin reporting to you on the adventures of senior year, here is what I learned from Summer 2010...
  • Running through sprinklers once a week is good for the soul. Just make sure you have a running-through-sprinkler buddy. That's important.
  • Knock Knock. Who's there? Sha-Sha. Sha-Sha who? Sha-Sha-Speaks.
  • Watching a sunset puts my life back into reality.
  • My form of instant gratification? Vanilla Wafers.
  • I like watching movies outside. Just bring enough blankets.
  • Absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
  • I'm really good at being lazy.
  • The spoons at Spoon Me are in fact, no longer edible. At least that's what they think...
  • Play grounds make me happy. I feel like a little kid again. I miss that.
  • I have a new party trick. I'm excited to use it.
  • My name was Annie in another life. I'm sure of it.
  • I am directionally challenged. I have traveled through Springville-Provo-Orem basically every day and then back from Orem-Provo-Springville and I'm still really confused.
  • Don't eat something just because someone tells you to.
  • Capricorn.
  • Ocean water is colder than I remember it being.
  • I like waffles. Pancakes are good too.
  • 'I MADE THIS FOR YOU!!!!!!'
  • The stars are a constant. Every single night, they never fail to be beautiful and I never fail to be in awe of them.
  • Cocoa Bean vs Sweet Tooth Fairy. I tried both to settle the conflict. Cocoa Bean for company and memories. Sweet Tooth Fairy for taste. Boom. Decided.
  • I am a professional movie marathon watcher. Are you?
  • Doctors are rad.
  • Friend -noun: Someone who supports another person without question.
  • I am horrible at perdiddle. But I embrace it, so it's all good.
  • There's jazz and there's the other kind of jazz. I don't think I like the other kind of jazz very much.
  • Longboards scare me. I like sitting on them much better, thankyouverymuch.
  • There's a phase of the moon called, 'half croissant'. (Like the french kind.)
  • Daily naps equal daily happiness.

How was your summer?
I hope it was happy.

*I am normally a very hygienic person, I promise*

I suppose I should tell you about Californ.i.a. However, I think I will do that another time. Right now I will tell you why I am awake. It is 6:07 am and I am tired. I didn't got to bed til 1:30 last night! But for some reason, I cannot sleep. And I think I know what reason this might be...

Last night after my festivities which included watching the greatest movie on earth... You've Got Mail, I entered my bedroom, made a bee line for my bed and laid down. And oh my stars, it felt AMAZING. Too amazing in fact because I did not want to get up from it... so I didn't. But that was bad because I didn't change into my pajamas, wash my face, brush my teeth- NOTHING. Whoops.

*I am normally a very hygienic person, I promise*

So I fell asleep on top of my covers.

But THEN, this morning, I woke up for a few minutes because, you know, that just happens sometimes but I am normally able to fall back asleep. But not this time because I couldn't stop thinking about all the things I didn't do last night. And all of a sudden, I felt nap nasty. So I had to do the unthinkable. I had to get up, out of bed, wash my face, brush my teeth, and change into clean clothes. Then I felt so much better! But too bad I couldn't go back to sleep afterward... oh good gravy.

The prices you pay for cleanliness.
I miss sleep.

ps. a little sneak peak of the photos from CA.
Isn't my G'pa a cutie?

Hug Picture

Hug picture with one of my favorite people on this planet.
I love you Keke.

Nodding Off...

I have a feeling that once a certain person sees this, she will ask me to remove it.... so watch this while you can. It certainly entertained me yesterday during the long car ride. Which by the way, flew by until the last 10 miles which took us 1 hour to travel. You gotta love CA traffic... and this video.

day one

hahaha 'naked bee' hahaha

Today the family, minus Danielle of course, drove down to sunny California to visit the grandparents. In the car today I slept, ate half a pack of vanilla wafers, listened to Glitter in the Air 500 times, slept some more, stole Katie's camera (see pictures above), sang a medley of Broadway songs with Katie and slept a little more. It was busy. But guess what? We are here!!! I kid you not, 5 minutes after we pulled into the driveway, Katie and I were in our swimsuits and at the pool! And now I am sitting in the living room with the family, listening to their witty banter and loving life.

Happy day in California.

you can call me annie.

A few weeks ago, my buddy Erin and I went to her Papa's work party. Yes. I know, I know. I crashed a party. But I'm so glad I did because it was so much fun! We played in the bouncy houses, on a park and in the pool. We even got dunked by one of those dunking tank things. Um- what's the official name? I obviously don't know, but it was ever so lovely and I'm so glad I went. Thank you Erin, dear!

Also, Erin took some photos and here they are!!!

dear potential suitors:

Yooohooo! Boys!

If you feel like wooing me one of these days, this will probably work best...

Sing jazz and be darn cute about it.

Also, check out Joe Brooks' non-jazzy version of this song here.

The music video is lovely and so is he.

I love him.

Maybe you will too???

It's not in their vocabulary...

Shoot. I can't move.
It's not that I don't want to dance today, it's that I can't.
However, my coach and the guest instructors hate that word... can't.
It's not in their vocabulary.
What does that even mean?
I think I'm going to hobble around today and look like a fool in the process.
Sounds fun.

How's your Tuesday looking?

You're Only A Day Away

the remaining d.co members from last year...

Tomorrow is the first day of.... DANCE CAMP!
Whooooooo!
I'm very excited for this year's d.co-
(a moment of silence for last year's please...)
yet also dreading it a teensy, weensy bit.
Only because I'm a lazy bum.
And I can't remember how to dance...
I haven't danced all summer...
whoops-a-daisy!
However, for the most part, I'm ridiculously excited.
I'm like a four year old little boy on Christmas waiting to open his present from Santa Claus which he happens to know is Hot Wheels!!!
Because I firmly believe that ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.
Take that ya haters!!!
(That's not directed to any particular person, I promise. I'm just saying it in general...)
Wow.
There's been an annoying amount of '...' (dot, dot, dots) in this post.
It's quite peculiar....

ps. you can read about last year's dance camp experience HERE if you so desire... So much has changed since then! It's crazy...

Alright. Enough with these '...'. My sincerest apologies.

the shooting star dance

Last night I saw two of these...

Apparently there were three but I missed the first one.
What a shame!
But! Don't you fret because this is how the Shooting Star Dance goes...

Step 1: Wave your hands above your head
Step 2: Jump three times. (This step can be adapted if you are laying down.)
Step 3: Give your star gazing buddy a high five

I guarantee this works. We saw two immediately after we completed the dance. And guess what? They weren't small, maybe-maybe not shooting stars. These ones were the real deal. I'm talking thick, blue-green, beauties.

Amazing.

Ps. Don't forget to make a wish.

goodnight, dear void.

"I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So goodnight, dear void." -You've Got Mail

If this is what I've always wanted, then why do I feel like this?
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy, I truly am.
But I'm also a little confused.
And I don't like being confused.
Who does?
....
I think I thought that if I wrote about it I'd find some answers.
Soul searching and all that jazz.
However, I am at a loss of what to write.
I have sat here, staring at my computer for a good 15 minutes.
How do you put feelings into words?
Apparently, not very well for some people...
aka yours truly.
....
I think I should put this post out of it's misery and share my gratitude to YOU for 'listening' to my ramblings.
I know I can always count on my blog to be constant.
Sure it's an inanimate object...
but you are most certainly not.
And I am grateful to you for that.
Thank you.

If you can't blog about it, then what can ya do?

pork sunglasses... almost.

Both my meals for the day were Cafe Rio.
THE pork salad.
Half for lunch.
Half for din din.
Life doesn't get too much better than that.

ps. check out these SWEET sunglasses I got today in Park City!!!

Yes, I went all the way to PC to get them, they're just that awesome.
I kid, I kid...

Karma

what goes around comes around.... thank you Celine Dion... and JT apparently.

Yesterday was a day of karma. Do you believe in karma? I don't know if I believe in karma but I think that things happen and we can choose to call it karma, fate, or let it go unnoticed! There are so many choices, it's definitely your call.

Let's start at the beginning, shall we? Yesterday was the TRIPLE M. The Man Movie Marathon. I made Stuart and Curtis watch chick flicks, so they made me watch man movies. It's only fair. The list included The Hunt for Red October, Road to Perdition, Saving Private Ryan, and Gladiator. Oh my goodness. I am supposed to write a full review for each of them, so says Stuart, but that would take forever since I have quite a few thoughts on them! But the condensed version goes a little something like this...

WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING ALL MY LIFE?!? THESE MOVIES WERE AMAZING!!!!

That is all.

rainbow chasin' on a sunday evenin'

Guess what I just did?!?
Just guess!!!!
Hmmm... I can't hear you so maybe you guessed it, or maybe you didn't...
I just chased a RAINBOW!!!!
Let me rewind about 20 minutes...
My family and I were watching New Moon, (I forced them. I really wanted them to see it... they don't really like it... shocker.) with the windows open and suddenly, I smell RAIN.
I jumped up, put on my rain boots, saddled my bike and skidaddled! At first I just sailed through the streets, with the wind rustling in my ears, feeling unstoppable when suddenly, I caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye.
I immediately changed my course of direction and biked to the end of the rainbow!!!
However!
It kept on moving father, and farther away.
But I kept moving. I was booking it. I was going to get there.
Alas, I did not get there.
It moved behind a mountain.
Now that's cheating.
Nonetheless, I loved every minute of my chase.
The sky was beautiful, the rain felt wonderful and I was on a mission.
Life does not get better than that.

if i ruled the world

This is my last week of summer.

Thank heavens, school does not start in two weeks but dance camp does. And then after that, my family is taking a trip to California. I realize the Cali vacae is still Summer but at the same time, it's not. Especially since five days after I return home, it's time for school. And guess what I will be doing during those five days? Getting ready for school... or at least that's what I should do. I have a feeling I'm going to be a rebellious senior and party it up. My last few days of freedom... what do you expect?

I digress! It's a little bittersweet today. Especially as I am currently listening to 'If I Ruled The World' by Jamie Cullum. It doesn't exactly lift my mood, nor does it lower it- it simply keeps it where it is since there are many things I would do if I ruled the world. Prolonging summer would be one of them.

I digress AGAIN. Why is it bittersweet today? I know you're dying to know! Well I'll tell ya. I have a feeling this coming week is going to be the best week of summer EVER. How do I know that? Because I'm going to make it that way. I am going to ensure that there are several bike rides, friends, a rain storm, friends, swimming, friends, star gazing, friends, movie marathons, friends, night time strolls, friends, monkey bread, and John Mayer. Oh, and friends.

How can this week go wrong? It can't. I forbid it to... plus I just kind of have a feeling it won't.
