The Blue Fairy

Yesterday, my Daddy and I spent mostly the entire day going car shopping
While at Disney, my goal was to save up for a car of my own and after going to 10+ dealerships and looking at at least 100 cars, we found this little beauty.

I am so in love with it!!!!
2008
Dodge Caliber
New engine and transmission.
Suh-weet.

I am so grateful for my Daddy who helped me and directed me towards good, reliable cars and helped me get the best bang for my buck during the nasty negotiation process.
I know he doesn't like buying cars but he sure did an awesome job!!!
That man has the patience of a SAINT.
I am so blessed.
Thank you Daddy, I love you.

In the photo above I am showing my Sorcerer Mickey antenna topper.
It's my Mommy's but she is letting me borrow it since it matches perfectly!
And it fits in with the name of my car:
THE BLUE FAIRY
From Pinocchio, of course!
(Gotta keep it Disney).

I am so excited to finally have a car of my own!
Throughout my entire driving career, I have borrowed my parents cars and they have been SO KIND to let me do that. Whenever people needed to be more places than we had cars, they would always work something out, and for that, I am so grateful for them.
Thank you Ma and Pa!
You guys, my parents are the best parents in the entire world.

Also, thank you to my sister Keke for taking these lovely photos.
While doing our little photo shoot, without me knowing, she also snapped this little beauty:

Isn't she just gorgeous?!

And last but not least the ONE TAKE WONDER jumping photo.
That's right, this was our first and only jumping picture we took.
Keke's just that good.
And if you look extra closely, you might see a little surprise in the back.

If you ever see a blue Caliber tootling around Utah County, it's probably me so be sure to say hi!
I look forward to seeing you!

tbt

Throwback Thursday to when my sisters and I wore matching dresses to church (made by my ever so talented mother) and we curled our bangs with a curling iron.
Those were the good ol' days.

My sister got a dog.

My sweet sister and her dear husband got a doggie while I was living in Florida!!!
His name is Waffles.
He is a 2 year old terrier with the biggest heart!

If he ever goes missing, they'll probably want to check if he's with me first...
I may just kidnap him one of these days.
He is just that cute.

It is your birthday.

When I woke up on my birthday, it didn't really feel like my birthday just because the real treat was going home for a couple days. However, there I was, laying in my bed at 8:00 in the morning thinking about how crazy it was that I was 20 years old. TWENTY. In one more lifetime I'll be 40. And in four more I'll be in the triple digits (if I even live that long... but who knows with all the new medicine that's coming out!) The point is that I was feeling very, very old and wasn't sure how to react towards this fact. However, instead of wallowing in my old age, Dano and I went to our dear, dear friend's salon where she gave us both a trim. My poor hair needed it so badly. So thank you Janna!

Oh, Sean, you cutie patootie, you.

After haircuts, Dano and I went to the beloved Zuppa's where I had, without guilt (because I hadn't had it in four months) a LARGE Mangoberry salad WITH extra dressing. Num yummy.
Next, we came home and watched 'The Bachelor' which, if you know me, you know is my guilty pleasure. Sean, my friend, I have a bit of advice for you which I ask that you don't take lightly. And it is this: KACIE B. IS THE ONE!!!! C'mon, my friend, it's so obvious.

Double friendship style

Fast forward to dinner time and my Mama said I could have anything I wanted, anything in the entire world! This was an exciting thought to me so after much pondering and consideration, I chose PB&J. Why? Because I don't keep bread or peanut butter in my apartment at home (since if I did, I wouldn't be able to eat it safely). My sandwich was absolutely heavenly.

Mama greeted me at the airport with birthday flowers
Elder BF sent me a BYU Cougars ornament, covered up the 'S' at the end of the word, Cougars and told me that since I was 20 and he is still 19, that a cougar is what I am. Rue.

After dinner, the family drove up to the Salt Lake area to have dessert, open presents, and play games with my sister and brother-in-law. It was low-key yet delightful which was just how I wanted it.

Because when you're married, you coordinate your stripes and colors.

A huge thanks to all those who made my birthday so special! I'm such a blessed elderly soul.

Thanksgiving Part 1

I work with kids all day everyday. And as adorable as they can be, they are also little germfests. Because of this, about a month ago, I developed a cold, and then it turned into the flu. I thought I had gotten over it but all of it never really went away. Unfortunately, a couple weeks ago, I began to lose my voice. However, this wasn't like an, "Oh no, my voice is getting raspy!" but more like, "......" That's right, silence. Nothing. Because I literally had no voice. And that's kind of a problem in my line of work...

Fast forward to the doctors office, a 4 hour trip consisting of a lot of waiting, a lot of coughing, and a doctor looking down my throat and going, "WOAH," and the diagnosis was... LARYNGITIS.

Oh dear.

The doctors gave me a note saying I was excused from work for a few days because complete voice rest, medicine, and lots of hydration and rest was the only way my voice was going to come back. It's a long and complicated story full of boring details but thanks to a lot of caring and understanding managers, I was able to sort out a leave for a couple of days (I work for the most amazing company, I feel so blessed).

That night (11/19), I skyped my sweet sister for her birthday and we talked for well over 2 hours (it was more of a treat for me than for her, I'm sure). After we hung up I had an idea... I knew it was a long shot but I had to research it anyway.

If I have to rest for 3 days, why not rest at my home in... Utah? (I can't remember the last time I had three days off + it was over Thanksgiving, it was almost perfect timing... if laryngitis can be perfect... which in this case I think it can be.)

I then skyped Keke and Dare Bear and talked to them a little about this mischievous plan I had. They supported my decision, which ever direction I decided to go and because of this, I booked a flight home, set to leave 15 hours later.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I was so excited!!!! I didn't realize it until I clicked 'SUBMIT' and bought my ticket but I have really, really missed home.

Fast forward 10 hours later and I walked into the Orlando International Airport and BOOM. This is what I saw (I was so excited, I took a picture. I've always loved airports you see. They are my happy place):

Hello my fellow travelers!!!!
I then found my flight, made it through security, found the gate, and chilled for a wee bit.

And by 'wee bit', I mean an extremely long time.

This picture does not do the size of the Christmas Tree justice.
It was HA-YOUGE (huge).

Remember that one time I was supposed to leave at 4:35?
My flight didn't end up taking off til well after 6.

Look at me, I'm in the air!

Eeeeek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My, my, my, my, I have never been so excited in my life! Keke was so sweet to pick me up from the airport and, I'm not going to lie, I ran to greet her when we met up at the terminal.

Next up, surprising my family.... oh yeah, did I mention I didn't tell my family that I was coming home???

to be continued...

Sister Night Adventures.

Dare Bear went on a Big Foot search with some friends so Keke invited Dano and myself to spend the night with her in SLC.
We partied like rock stars.
Just kidding.
We were asleep by 10pm.
But that doesn't mean we didn't have fun!
Agle sista style.
We started by eating dinner at Rumbi Grill.
(Yummmmmmmmm.)
(I had mango cheesecake.)
(Ahhhh. Mango??? Cheesecake???? My two most favorite things!!)
Then we watched one of my most favorite movies, 'My Best Friend's Wedding.'
(Every morning I wake up...)
The following morning, we went shopping at City Creek mall and bonus, none of us exceeded our budgets!
Dang we're awesome.
And then to top it all off, we had pizza.
Lots and lots of pizza for lunch.
What a great 18 hours.
Love my sissies to death.
Grateful Dare Bear didn't get killed by Bigfoot.
Blessed.

#57

This has been the best 24 hours ever.
Well, perhaps not in my entire life (because my life has consisted of some pretty awesome days) but today has been pretty great, all the same.
Yesterday evening, my wonderful Mother and I drove up to Salt Lake to stay the night with Keke and Dare Bear's lovely casa because yours truly (me) had an audition the following morning in that area.
The evening was full of class projects, a two-story Walmart, and urban legends.
It was all very enjoyable.
(I love sleepovers.)

Cutest cookies ever!
Keke made Mickey Mouse cookies in honor of our sleepover.
They were absolutely scrumptious.

Katie hard at work at her project.

Boom. A+. 'Addiction'.

This morning, I woke up at the crack of dawn, worked out like a mother (nerves), got in old dance attire (it's been about 10 months since I've done any dancing) and headed to the Rose Wagner theater for my friends with a Disney Character audition.

Sweetest card. Made by Dano.

For those of you who don't know, I was recently accepted into the Disney College Program in a restaurant internship. I am absolutely ecstatic and from what I've heard, working in the restaurants at Walt Disney World have an incredible energy, atmosphere, and level of kindness.
(YES!)

However, those accepted into the college program have the option to audition to be friends with the  face and fur characters. And unfortunately, when I learned of this, and additionally learned that there was an audition in Salt Lake City no less, I had to go.
I despise auditions and generally do not talk about them or let people know when I'm going to go to one or have had one just because it has a huge potential to be awkward if I don't get in or something like that but this audition was totally different.
IT WAS THE FUNNEST AUDITION EVER!!!!

If you have always wanted to be friends with a Disney character (like so many dream of doing) but are too scared to take the first step and even audition, I beg you to dismiss that fear right now and just do it! (Nike style.) The casting directors, choreographer, and fellow auditionees are all full of Disney joy and laughter is plentiful.
Seriously, it was a blast and I wish I could tell details but Disney has a very strict 'Integrity policy' (to keep the magic alive, ya know) so I'm not allowed to share details but I will say that this girl made it through a plethora of cuts.
Sha-bam!
Bragging time is now over.

Although, as fun and magical as it was and felt, I am expecting today to be the first and last character experience I have with Disney. Though I tried my absolute best, there was just so much talent at that audition!
(And truthfully, I was honored to be apart of it.)
But despite the probable outcome, I am grateful for the opportunity.

My number. Out of 170-something.
CATTLE CALL.

After my audition, my fantastico Mother dear and I went to City Creek, a new mall up in Salt Lake.
Holy shmoly kanoli, it's HUGE!
While there, my favorite Mama and I picked up some B-E-A-Utiful apparel for my adventure to Florida (because whether or not I get the entertainment internship, I still have my restaurant internship. Nice, huh!).
This was SO MUCH FUN because my incredible Mumsy has impeccable taste and together we found some essential staples to add to my wardrobe.
Love you Mommy!

After one store, because it was huge and we were exhausted, we drove home to our wonderful fam bam and doggie and I spent the rest of the day relaxing.
It was quite heavenly.
and I am quite blessed.

Thank you to all who made these past 24 hours possible!
Without such supportive and willing family members, I wouldn't be able to try anything new, and what fun would that be?
None.
None fun.
So thank you.

It's simple days like these that remind me life is good.

What. A. Day.
I believe this is how all Sunday's should be. (No work on Sunday's is divine.)
I was blessed to have the opportunity of seeing some friends I haven't seen for a while, as well as catch up with some family members who are normally pretty dang busy during the week (or who live elsewhere).

The day started with picking Curbs up to go to Stu's mission farewell. (If you didn't see the post about Stu, he's going to Lansing, Michigan for two years. He leaves on Wednesday. Ahh!) In that meeting, Stuart made me CRY. That's right, his way with words is inspiring and his testimony floors me. Good for him.

After the meeting, I visited with some good friends (Chris and DJ), and then took Curbs home. However, before he got out of the car, I made him take a few pictures with me. Why? Because I hadn't seen him in 3 and a half weeks, that's why! I sure missed him so it was good to catch up.

Fast forward to Dano and I at home, eating super healthy lunches (sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell), to spilling our guts out for about 4 hours straight. Can you believe that? We were really just chatting the whole time. From that I learned two things:

1. My sister's awesome. (Well, I already knew that obviously but this pow wow reaffirmed it once again to me.) And...

2. Time truly does fly when you're having fun.

After a scrumptious dinner prepared for by Mama, Dano obliged me in letting me take pictures of her... and isn't she beautiful? My favorite is below:

It just seems so Dano to me! Especially accompanied by the light snowfall. Her smile is refreshing to my SOUL.

Following the shoot, Keke and Dare Bear came over to our home, where we exchanged cutie-patootie Valentine's day cards and candies. (I am officially sugared out as of this moment.)

After that, we sat around the fire and exchanged stories from our childhoods and ladies and gentlemen, I don't think I've laughed that hard in MONTHS! How funny are little kids? And how much funnIER is picturing our loved ones do stupid things as kids?

After Keke and Dare Bear left to go back home, Mama, Paps, and Dano agreed to watch Harper's Island with me, a super scary mini TV series resembling the plot of Agatha Christie's novel, "And Then There Were None/Ten Little Indians". Gee wilickers it's intense! And though my family aren't as big of fans as it as I am, they were sure awesome to give it a try with me!

And that brings us to now, my friends
. I am sitting on my bed, typing this blog post and wondering how I got so lucky in this life to be blessed with such wonderful people. If I've mentioned you in this post, I for sure love you. If I haven't... I still for sure love you. Basically, unless I've ever said, "I don't love you," you can pretty much assume you're on my favorites list:)

Thanks to all those who made today special.
It's simple days like these that remind me life is good.
